ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP FEE FOR STUDENT PILOT VDS

€ 310

The Aero Club of Sondrio has been organizing flying courses since the opening of its school in 2005; thanks to the large group of trained pilots it has become a well-known and renowned flying club. With enthusiasm and competence, the flight instructors transmit their passion to young pilots, and greater skills to trained pilots.

Bound The Sondrio aeroclub mainly organizes VDS courses (on motor gliders, multi-axes, gyroplane, helicopter, delta engine), with attached authorization to transport the passenger, any aeronautical voice and the possibility of acquiring the qualification of advanced pilot with it.

Bound The theory lessons are held during the week, usually on Fridays, in the evening, always in accordance with the needs of the students.

The practical part is concentrated more on weekends.

VDS CERTIFICATE

The term VDS refers to all aircraft equipped with an engine whose maximum weight does not exceed 600 Kg. Do not fear the low weight of the vehicles, in fact these aircraft have characteristics enviable to general aviation aircraft (Some aircraft have an autonomy of more than 5 hours and a maximum speed of 300Km / h).

For many future pilots the VDS is a great way to cultivate their passion for flying, but at a limited cost.

  • Requirements:

- Having turned 18 or 16 and having the consent of the person exercising parental authority - Be in possession of the permit issued by the police headquarters

- Be in possession of the certificate of psycho-physical fitness. (Issued by hospitals, sports medicine centers, and private clinics)

  • Training activities:

The theoretical course includes a minimum of 36 hours of classroom lessons with an attendance level equal to or greater than 80%. Theoretical lessons are held weekly on Fridays or during the weekend in order to allow the participation of all students. The theoretical subjects are: aerodynamics, meteorology, piloting technique, technology and performance, emergency operations and landings, traffic regulations and elements of aeronautical speech, navigation, aeronautical legislation and flight safety.

The practical course includes a minimum of 16 hours of flight divided into two phases. The first phase concerns the acclimatization on the fly and the knowledge of the machine. This phase will end with the first solo flight, which will remain forever etched in the pilot's mind. The second part of the practical course concerns the refinement on the fly and also includes 4 solo flights. All school planes are equipped with dual controls. For this reason, the flight instructors will be free to intervene in the event of the student's need. At the end of the training, a pre-exam will be carried out by the school director in order to ascertain the student's theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The courses are held on motor gliders (Virus by Pipistrel) or on terrestrial multi-axis (Texan Top Class by FlySynthesis).

  • Examination

The exam for obtaining the VDS license is divided into two phases which take place on the same day. The first part is a theoretical test of 70 questions, the result will be positive by correctly answering at least 90% / 60 questions. The second part is practical and consists of a flight accompanied by an examiner from the aero club of Italy.

PASSENGER TRANSPORT ENABLEMENT

  • Requirements
    - Have obtained the VDS flight certificate
    - Submit a self-certification certifying that you have completed a minimum of 30 hours of flight as a solo pilot

  • Training activities
The training activity is almost completely practical. In fact, some flight missions with an instructor are carried out for a minimum duration of 3 hours. During the flights the flight technique will be perfected in order to guarantee an optimal presence of a passenger on board. Potentially dangerous situations for flight such as engine failure, stall and screw will also be investigated. Finally, a knowledge of the basics of navigation is required.

  • Bound Examination
The exam for obtaining the two-seater qualification is divided into a flight in which the examiner verifies the correct management of the machine, the passenger and emergencies. It also plans to execute and discuss a flight plan using maps and navigation tools.

AERONAUTICAL PHONY

ADVANCED VDS CERTIFICATE

  • Requirements
    - Have obtained the VDS flight license or be a student enrolled in the course for the achievement of the VDS certificate or for the advanced pilot course.

  • Training activities
The course must be structured with at least 16 theoretical hours and 8 hours of practical exercises simulating possible scenarios. The main theoretical topics covered are organizations and regulatory sources, navigation assistance services, radioelectric knowledge, specific technical knowledge, the aerodrome and radio communications. As for the practical part, flight management simulations will be carried out, from departure, to frequency change, to emergency calls up to arrival. The practical simulations concern the following topics: simulation of a departure in VFR, simulation of an arrival in VFR, simulation of the PAN-PAN message, simulation of the MAYDAY message, simulation of the MAYDAY RELAY message, frequency change, FIR change, separation between aircraft, simulations of Special VFR, simulation of ground emergencies, simulation of repetition of an authorization.

  • Examination
The exam is carried out in written form with multiple choice questions. The candidate will have 30 minutes to answer 20 questions. The exam will have a positive result if at least 75% of the questions are answered correctly. In the practical part, the commission made up of three examiners, two from external clubs and an internal instructor will propose flight scenarios studied during the training activity
